I have a confession to make.  Sometimes….I buy new items for our stores…..because…..I want one of them….for ME.  Ok, I feel better now.

This is my favorite time of year.  New merchandise arrives daily, our store decor brightens, and nice weather (70 degrees today!) brings out the smiles. I get a little antsy though — should i ditch the heavy sweaters? can i jazz up our jewelry displays with some COLOR?  did we buy enough cool new stuff?

This year it is clear.  My wool sweaters are packed already, our stores are looking great, and the new stuff is better than I remembered.  So good in fact that for the next few posts I plan to focus on some of the new items in our stores……that I can’t live without.

MY HARVEY SEAT BELT BAG:  I am not a bag girl.  I do not covet handbags, plan my outfits around them, or even carry one all the time.  Until now.   The reason?  My new HARVEY SEAT BELT BAG.  I am fascinated by it.  Made from woven seat belts? Really? YES.  My treecycled tricolor convertible tote is my new favorite thing.  When I bought the line I purposely bought an extra one knowing it would be mine.  I am excited to be carrying these great bags in our stores.  Bags, totes, and wallets….all made from seatbelts.  You will love them too. Stylish, durable, and wicked cool.

Jean, The seat belt bag is very cool! Were you aware that seat belts cost a small fortune? I only know this because my chocolate Lab ate (repeat–Gnawed, chewed and ATE) five of them in my Mommivan about 7 years ago. Muddy was a new pup back then, little by little he started chewing until they fell apart and to replace them at $150.00 not including labor all at once–was going to be a unscheduled expensive repair…that is the one and only time my car insurance had to step up to the plate and pay for something outright!

I have a new found respect for the simple seat belt–I’ll have to come into the store and check out this new line of bags!

hi..what a great story. i have one of those darling labs too — his weakness is pillows 🙂 luckily, harvey’s is not like the car dealer re seat belt prices. the bags we stock run from about $70 up, with most of the popular ones in the $100-$140 range (and only 1 bag in stock over $150)

Do you have many seatbelt bags in stock? I have three already, and normally order from the Harveys site, but it would be nice to go into a store and be able to see and buy…..also, what are your hours?

Hi kristen….thanks for commenting. we have about a dozen bags in stock between our two stores. We typically carry totes and convertible bags, as well as hipsters and wallets. Black, grey, and reds are our “standards” but we have some black/grey/taupe, as well as some brightly colored pink and turquise blue for spring and summer. we have a couple of the fancier bags and a boat tote. Stock is divided between our two stores so — if you are interested in a particular bag — call first and i will make sure to get to you. our north andover store is open Mon-Fri 10 to 7, Saturday 10 to 6, Sundays noon to 5). Our Reading store is closed mondays and tuesdays but we are here tues through sat. 10am to 5pm and Thursdays til 7. Stop by anytime!
